Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

In 1984 George Orwell had his 2 minutes of hate. On modern US social media the hate can last much, much longer.. A Series of Unfortunate Abortions? Sad... Reminder - just 169 days till Saint Patrick's Day... Very cool - 3-D printed cars making 3-D printed shelters... Do you have a resigned Boehner? Ask your doctor about Cialis... Just so we are clear - Comedy Central is OK with a cartoon Donald Trump getting raped and killed on South Park but not OK with a cartoon Muhammad doing nothing... Interesting - players backing Papelbon over Harper...

  1. I wish I could be surprised by the stupidity of celebrities. I enjoyed the Series of Unfortunate Events books (I like to read what the kids are reading so I know if criticisms are warranted) but I knew he was kind of a turd because he used made up words for the baby to communicate, and busheney meant liar.

That's hilarious that Harper is an even bigger douchbag than Papelbon

  2. I'm torn about the donation. Growing up the mantra used to be "government has no business in our bedrooms." Now the mantra seems to be "government needs to pay for my birth control and abortions." I agree with the former but the latter is just ridiculous - so if a private citizen ponies up cash to support Plan Parented in lieu of taxpayer money that works for me.

As far as the Lemony Snicket books - I was never able to finish a single one. I tried and tried. There was some humor and some interesting turns of phrase but every time I tried I got to a point where I just went "uggghhh enough" and put it down.

Now I think I understand. Maybe it's because the author really doesn't like kids and that came through in the books. Now he's paying $1 million to kill them.

    1. In hindsight, that's true. I read a lot, even at work, so I could knock out the whole series in a couple of weeks. It probably helped that I saw the movie first, which I enjoyed. At least Lemony Snicket is living his dream.
